It's been my dream to conduct Gerontius and last night it came true, at least in part!
I got to conduct the Prelude and Angel’s Farewell. We were playing from the original 1902 parts, when Elgar re-orchestrated the two movements for orchestra only. London Repertoire Orchestra sounded its best in the luscious orchestration and beautiful melodic lines powered by the bass.
