I am walking for O Sacrum Convivium, track 8 on the choral album Set Me As A Seal.
O Sacrum Convivium was written for Palestrina's 500th Birthday, 1525 – 2025.
O Sacrum Convivium started as a parody motet and quickly turned into a homage to his Tu Es Petrus. It uses the same scoring – SSATBB – and the same structure, building up to a climax at Et futurae gloriae..Alleluia. Palestrina's distinctive harmonic pacing is reflected in the opening O Sacrum and in the parallel build-up at recolitur memoria and et futurae. It ends with a jubilant Alleluia (which can be replaced by mens impletur during Lent). The text – O Sacred Banquet – is actually the Magnificat Antiphon for Corpus Christi, written (probably) by Thomas Acquinas. It is suitable for any Mass, Communion, Benediction or Eucharist and works well as a concert piece. It is one of the Gregorian Motets.
Please support me to get this piece recorded. You could even be a Dedication Patron and have O Sacrum Convivium dedicated to a loved one. All details are on my Debut Albums Crowdfunder.
