Tidying Up The Sea Symphony

Dear Friends and Fans, I have prepared a sneak preview of the Sea Symphony for you. It’s only available on my Youtube channel, in the unlisted section. For your ears only!
The first movement, Dawn Of Civilisation, was actually the last one I wrote. I finished it about two weeks ago. This movement took about three months to write, with breaks to write other pieces in between (two shorter orchestral works, An Comhluadar and Loving Pairs). The whole symphony, four movements lasting 42’, took two years, including breaks for other works. The first entry in my notebook is dated 4 September 2024, fragments of the slow movement Sunset At Sea.
Since finishing the writing, I have been 'tidying up' – putting the four movements into a single score, checking orchestration, dynamics and typesetting. I enjoy this part of composing, even though it involves a bit of 'brain work' (so I take regular sleep breaks), as I get to reflect on two years’ work. The next step is to prepare the parts for a runthrough with London Repertoire Orchestra (7 October) and for the recording by the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra (15/16 October).
Notation software is a great aid to composition, especially a long piece for full symphony orchestra. It also has excellent playback using sampled instrumental sounds. Here’s the MIDI playback version. The City Of Prague Philharmonic will sound amazing!
