I’m halfway through my notebook – three months of ideas, sketches, doodles.
Tide, 3rd movement of my Sea Symphony. For full orchestra (2222 4331). The big theme. Outline of modes. Counterpoint in the finale. Tide was played in private by London Repertoire Orchestra a couple of weeks ago.
Tube, for Percussion Orchestra of the City Lit. Flexible scoring and voices. Sketched out almost completely, appropriately, on the tube. Still haven’t worked into complete piece.
My Holy Place, for SATB. Sketched in the church of S. Nicolas in the centre of Brussels on New Year’s Eve. My ‘Locus Iste’! Has been sung a few times already in private.
Oliver, for SATB. I wasn’t happy with the sketches in my notebook so, last Saturday afternoon, I wrote it afresh and we sang it that evening.
Splash, 2nd movement of my Sea Symphony. Lots of ideas, especially for the irregular/regular rhythmic play.
Dawn, 1st movement of my Sea Symphony. Just one idea. Still very early stages.
Double Concerto, for orchestra. My latest sketches, mostly on the tube to a London Repertoire Orchestra session playing Debussy Jeux.
